Across the Sakonnet River Bridge, north of Aquidneck Island, is the town of Tiverton. More rural than the neighboring towns across the bridge, Tiverton is known for its farmlands, meandering roads with ancient stonewalls, country stores displaying local artisans wares and antiques and several public and private beaches lining the eastern shores of the Sakonnet. The northern part of Tiverton is bordered by Mt Hope Bay. There is much history surrounding Tiverton dating back to before the Revolutionary War.
